ABOUT MEAdventurer, World Traveler, Student Teacher! Hi! My name is Nevin Leners and I am a Student Teacher at Highland High School. Before I decided to become a Teacher, I spent many years as an Investment Banker and later traveled the world working in the Oil and Gas Industry. I have had the pleasure to work in Ault, Colorado this Spring, which is very near to where my family owned and operated a farm when I was growing up; just outside of the nearby town of Eaton. My Wife Sadie and I were both Graduates of Eaton High School where we both excelled at Sports, Clubs, Drama, Music and our Studies. After High School I attended Chadron State College on a Football Scholarship and later attended The University of Northern Colorado in Greeley for my Graduate Work. After graduating with my Masters Degree and working in the Financial Services Industry for several years, I went back to School to study Geology and venture out into the World in the Petroleum Industry. After traveling the Globe and working with many people in many different countries; I decided I wanted to spend rest of my life working with young people. Growing up I strongly disliked Math and Science, mostly because I felt like I was taught by people who did not have a passion for these subjects. I was lucky enough to have mentors later in my life that were extraordinarily passionate about Science, Math and Technology. It was these individuals who inspired me to be the light for a new generation of Scientists, Mathematicians and Engineers to literally "pass the torch" on to others. My goal as a Professional Educator is to pass on this inspiration and passion for Science that I did not have at an earlier age. I want to present the STEM studies to the next generation of youth with the same passion and intensity that I was fortunate enough to be given later in my life! This is my mission and my goal for my Teaching career.
